It’s quite versatile, and you can use it as both a standard and a telephoto lens. The lens is well built and feels solid, and the focus and zoom rings rotate smoothly. But, in terms of price, adaptability, and image quality, it is a fantastic buy for Canon DSLR cameras. It’s a big lens, so it might not be the best choice if you plan to take it on many trips. That said, if you have already invested in an 85mm lens for the Sony system, I don’t see enough here pushing me to upgrade. The background separation and beautiful bokeh make this a “win” in my book. But, there was very little available light for me to work with, and I probably didn’t have my ISO high enough for the lens to focus correctly. One thing I did notice is that, for low-light situations, it seemed to struggle a bit with focusing when it came to capturing musicians moving about on a stage.
